Capt. A. J. Webb Dead
Capt. A. J. Webb, one of the oldest and most honored citizens of this city died very suddenly at his home on College Avenue Tuesday about_________. Late in the afternoon he had complained somewhat of indigestion, but he did not appear to be ill and very little was said or thought of the complaint. About 12 o’clock at night he arose from his bed and as he started across the floor fell. This alarmed his daughter, Mrs. Timmerman, who was present and on reaching her father she found him dead. It is supposed that death was at the result of heart disease.

Capt. Webb was the head of a very prominent and influential family. He was 78 years of age, and had great vitality for a man of his years. Mrs. Webb had been the constant companion of her husband for the past 55 years and his death is a severe blow to her.

The deceased was a member of the Baptist church and his walk was that of a soldier of the cross. On account of the absence of a son in New York the interment has been postponed until today.
