Elizabeth Maddox
In memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Maddox, nee Thomas, who died at Worthville, Ga., April 6, 1900

Mrs. Maddox was born in Spartanburg, S. C. November 27, 1828, and was brought to Butts county Georgia when she was three years old, where she lived the remainder of her life.

While in youth she professed Christianity and unified with the Macedonia Baptist and was baptized by the late Rev. James Carter who was pastor at that time. She remained a member of this church until death, and was always true to attend as long as her health would permit. She was always an earnest and constant worker in the Masters vineyard, and the life she lived shies forth as a bright and shining light of Christian love and devotion. She was fondly loved by all who knew her, and did everything in her power to add to the pleasure and happiness of those around her. We have every assurance that her life was a complete success. While she spent the last few years of her life an invalid she bore it all with patience and Christian fortitude.

She was married to Green B. Maddox, Feb. 27, 1845, who preceded her several years in joining friends and loved ones around the white throne. Their union was blessed with six children, two of who preceded her several years, the remaining four with her grand children are left to prepare to meet her when called from this earth to the realms above.
